Yahoo Life on Thursday published a story about an 11-year-old boy who believes he is a girl, calling him a “transgender activist” and using his “preferred pronouns”.

The most egregious option involves transforming children’s bodies through irreversible surgeries aimed at “aligning their external physical features with their gender identity.” The procedures listed include “upper surgery – to create a typical male breast shape or enhance breasts” and “lower surgery – surgery on the genitals or reproductive organs.” The document entitled “Gender-Affirming Care and Young People” does not include more grotesque aspects of these surgeries, such as when girls’ breasts are cut off and fake penises are constructed from tissue from another part of the body.

The document also recommends puberty blockers and hormone therapy, which, according to the Mayo Clinic, can cause infertility, loss of bone density and underdevelopment of sexual organs (especially in the case of minors taking puberty blockers).

Yahoo Life ended its report by insisting that Shappley is “just like any other 11-year-old” outside of his activism.

“He likes to sew, ride his bike and listen to music. She loves fashion and cats and wants to meet Dolly Parton one day. She is also pursuing a career as an actress.
